Security deposit & liability
A refundable security deposit of €250 is required at check-in. This can be paid with credit/debit card or cash. It will be refunded when the boat is returned in good condition.
The deposit covers most common minor damage (for example propeller issues). In case of major damage or loss, guests remain responsible for the full cost.

Optional insurance
For extra peace of mind, optional insurance is available. It limits your liability to a maximum of €500 in case of major damage.
Insurance cost: 15% of the rental price (special rate available for rentals longer than 6 days)

Rental times
• Half day 9–13 or 14–18

• The boat is provided with a full tank at the start of your rental

• The boat must be refuelled upon return

Weather policy – Bad weather guarantee
If conditions are unsafe (strong winds/lightning), you can reschedule free of charge. If rebooking is not possible during your stay in Loftahammar, we will refund your booking. Rain or colder weather is not a reason for cancellation.

• Bookings must be made at least 1 working day in advance
• During high season and fishing season we recommend booking well in advance

Safety reminder
Ensure the person driving the boat stays completely sober throughout your trip. Even small amounts of alcohol can affect judgment and reaction time and increase accident risk.

Half-day & multi-day rentals
Half-day rentals and rentals for multiple consecutive days are not available for online booking.

Boat rental at SWEEDS – Step by step

Renting a boat is one of the best ways to experience the Swedish archipelago. Whether you’re planning a peaceful fishing trip, a family adventure, or a picnic on your own little island, we make sure everything is easy, safe and stress-free.

1. Reserve your boat
Full-day rentals can be booked online.
For half day rentals or multiple days, please contact us — we’ll be happy to help.
Please note: Bookings must be made at least 1 working day in advance.

2. Check-in at SWEEDS reception
Check-in takes place at our SWEEDS reception. The first check-in starts at 8:30 AM and boats depart from 9:00 AM. At our reception you will:
• sign the rental agreement
• pay the security deposit
• collect life jackets

⏰ Please arrive on time, as we work with a tight schedule to ensure every guest receives a proper introduction. If you would like to check in at a different time, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to arrange it.

3. Boat handover at the harbour
After check-in we meet you at the harbour. You will receive a short safety briefing and clear instructions.

Even with little or no experience, you’ll feel confident before leaving the dock.

4. Enjoy the archipelago
Then it’s just you, the open water, and the quiet beauty of the Swedish coastline. Cruise through narrow channels, stop for a swim, explore hidden bays, or find the perfect fishing spot, the day is yours.

5. Return with great memories
Boats must be returned by 6:00 PM.
Please refuel the boat upon return (fuel is available directly at the harbour). We will inspect the boat and arrange the refund of your deposit in the harbour.

FAQ – Boat rental Loftahammar

Do I need a boating license?
– No license is required for our 15 HP and 20 HP boats. For the 50 HP boat, a boating license is required.

Do you provide instructions before departure?
– Yes. Before you leave, we give a short safety briefing and a personal introduction to the boat. We explain how to start and operate the engine, steering, docking, anchoring, how to use the GPS system, and what to watch out for in shallow areas. This way you can head out with confidence, even if it’s your first time.

Is there a minimum age to rent a boat?
– Yes, the driver must be at least 18 years old.

Is alcohol allowed on board?
– The boat must always be operated by a sober driver. Alcohol affects judgment, balance, and reaction time, and can put you, other boats, and our equipment at risk.

What are the rental times?
– Half day: 9:00–13:00 or 14:00–18:00
– Full day: 9:00–18:00

How early should we arrive before departure?
– Please arrive 30 minutes before your rental start time for check-in and the safety briefing.
If you booked the boat for 09:00, we expect you at 08:30 at our reception.
If you booked the boat for 14:00, we expect you at 13:30.

Is fuel included?
– No. The boat is provided with a full tank and must be refueled upon return. Fuel is available for purchase at the harbour.

Is there a security deposit?
– Yes, €250. Fully refundable if returned in good condition.

Are life jackets included?
– Yes, life jackets are included for everyone (all sizes). Please note that we do not provide life jackets for pets.

Do you provide an anchor?
– Yes, an anchor is included, along with standard equipment such as rope and oars.

Can I cancel my booking?
– Bookings are non-refundable. However, if you cannot make it, please contact us as soon as possible. Depending on availability, we may be able to reschedule your rental to another date or time.

What happens in bad weather?
– If weather conditions are unsafe (storm or lightning), we will rebook your booking free of charge. If rebooking is not possible during your stay in Loftahammar, we will refund your booking. Rain or colder weather is not a reason for cancellation.

Can I fish from the boat?
– Yes, fishing is very popular here. Please follow local fishing regulations.

Can we dock on islands?
– Yes, in most places you can dock and explore the islands. Please be careful with rocks and shallow areas, as the water can be very shallow close to shore. Also respect nature and local restrictions, some areas may be protected during certain seasons (for example bird nesting areas) and landing is not allowed.

Can I swim from the boat?
– Yes, you can absolutely take a swim during your trip. Please note that there is no swimming ladder, so getting back into the boat can be a bit challenging.

Is there a toilet on board?
– No, these are open motorboats. Plan a stop on an island or harbour.

Can we bring a dog?
– Yes, dogs are welcome on board. Please note that we do not provide life jackets for pets.

Can the boat be used by just one or two people?
– Yes. You can also drive the boat alone. As long as at least one person is responsible for the rental and is 18+, it’s fine.
