Other Activities
Besides boats and canoes, Loftahammar and its surroundings, can provide you with many other activities. Fishing, biking, walking, diving, hunting, horse riding, bird-spotting, sailing, playing tennis, carting or relaxing in a SPA centre, all belong to the possibilities. The pleasant terraces, shops and restaurants in Västervik and Söderkoping, as well as the zoo, the safari park Kolmård and of course Astrid Lindgrens Värld are some of the hotspots that you really must see!
Golf
Test your golf qualities on a very well-kept, up to par, nine-hole golf course, just outside of town, also known as ‘the St-Andrews of Småland’. Or, if you rather play a eighteen-hole course, it only is 45 minutes from Loftahammer.
Biking and walking
Experience the dazzling beauties of Swedish nature, using the many foot- or cycle paths. Either follow a path set out by Sweeds, through the most beautiful spots of Loftahammar and its surroundings, or, for the more adventurous hiker and mountain biker, there are several rough tracks to lead you through Sweden’s many astonishing panorama’s. For the sportsmanlike, as well as the recreational biker there are countless possibilities to have a wonderful biking-holiday.
Fishing
Because of all the pike, perch and trout in the Norra Tjust Archipelago, it won’t be very hard to catch a fish in its waters. It is even possible to catch a delightful salmon! In the many lakes in the surroundings of Loftahammer you can also find tench, bream and eel. You can go fishing by yourself (note: there is a permit necessary for fishing on lakes), or you can join us on one of our organized fishing trips.
Astrid Lindgrens Värld
In Småland you will find Astrid Lindgrens world. Here all the well-known stories written by Astrid Lindgren (e.g. Pippi Longstocking, Emil, Madieke and many other beloved fairytales) take place; every village described in the adventures of Astrid Lindgren really exists! In Lindgrens place of birth, Vimmerby, children can experience the fairy-like stories themselves in one of Sweden’s greatest attractions: Astrid Lindgren’s World (Astrid Lindgrens Värld).
Kolmårdens Djurpark
Over 750 curiosities from jungles, savannahs and seas from all over the world...all joined in one place! The largest zoo of Scandinavia has the capacity to surprise and bedazzle both young and old. Seeing tigers from up close in Tiger World, witness a world class dolphin show in the New Marine World, meet the world famous baby gorilla Enzo, are only a few examples of what you will experience in this astounding park.
Bird watching
The coast of the congregation of Västervik will present you with an abundance of bird species. The 'Fågelvägen' (the bird-path) runs from Flatvarp in the north to Händelöp in the south, revealing many bird-watch facilities and perfect picnic spots. Also many excursions take place in this area.
